Ancient Luxor

Known as 'The World's Greatest Open Air Museum', Luxor is home to some of the World's most impressive and well-preserved ancient structures and monuments. Being central to ancient Egypt's great civilisation and the site of the ancient city of Thebes, Luxor offers the chance to see the likes of The Valley of The Kings and Luxor's very own temple.


Luxor is also a place that benefits from fantastic weather and sky high temperatures that keep tourists coming back year after year. The flight time is just five hours from the UK and once you hit the ground you will experience temperatures of between 25 and 30 at this time of year. You could start your exploring in the city itself with a visit to Luxor's huge Temple of Karnak. This ancient place of worship is home to  a maze of vast columns and statues dedicated to the great Pharaoh Ramses II. You can even visit the temple at night when your walk around the temple is accompanied by a sound and light show that really brings the temple and its story to life - perfect for a really special Luxor holiday.


As the home to 63 royal tombs and the most famous of all Pharaohs,Tutankhamen, The Valley of Kings is a colossus of an attraction demanding your attention for a whole day. It is also Luxor's most famous attraction and it draws millions of visitors every year. The valley itself was a place in which many of the Egyptian rulers of the time were buried and revered. The vast area contains many tombs that are ready for exploration and is dominated by the peak of the mountain al-Qurn, which is a sight in itself! Of the numerous tombs that you can explore in the valley, the tomb of King Tut is the most famous and its easy to see why with the multitude of treasures that surround the golden Sarcophagus of the famous King.
